TL;DR: Open the Fields tab, select the red + button, draw the field boundary and add the field details. You can also import existing fields under Settings → Field import.
Draw a field
1. Open the Fields tab.
2. Select the red + button.
3. Find the field on the map.
4. Select points around the field boundary.
5. Select the first point again to close the shape.
6. Check the selected area shown on the map.
7. Use Undo to remove the last point or Clear to start again.
8. Select Done when the boundary is correct.
Add the field information
The Add field info window opens after the boundary is completed.
1. Choose the Field type:
Rows;
Field;
Greenhouse; or
Eco-zone.
2. Enter the Field name.
3. Select the Category.
4. Add the crop or plant Variety.
5. Add the Plant date, where relevant.
6. Set the percentage of the field covered by that crop or variety.
7. Select Add one more when more than one crop or variety is grown in the field.
8. Select:
Save to finish; or
Save and draw another to add the next field.
Add more fields later
You can add another field at any time from the Fields tab by selecting the red + button.
To import existing field boundaries, go to Settings → Field import.
Tip: Use the map and satellite controls to make field boundaries easier to identify. Zoom in as close as possible to get the most accurate data.
FAQs
Can I skip drawing a field during account setup?
Yes. Select Skip for now and add the field later from the Fields tab.
Can I add more than one variety to a field?
Yes. Select Add one more and enter the additional crop or variety information.
Why is accurate field setup important?
Field boundaries and crop information are used throughout Farmable for soil samples, fertilization plans, jobs, notes, harvests, and reporting. All information relies on accurate field boundaries and size.
