Sow & Plant Job

Use Plant & Sow for rotating (non-perennial) crops when you’re starting a new crop cycle in a field. It lets you set the new crop and capture everything that happens at planting, like seed, seed treatments, and any fertilizer applied with planting.

TL;DR

  • Create a Plant & Sow job from Add (+) or from the Jobs list in field view.

  • Pick a Field, choose the Crop, add key details,

  • then Save.

When to use Plant & Sow

Use this job type when you want to:

  • record a planting/seeding event for traceability and reporting

  • track the planted crop in a specific field (and its planted area)

  • document seed and other planting-related inputs, costs, and notes

  • plan upcoming plantings

Create a Plant and Sow job

  1. Tap the (+) button.

  2. Tap Create Job.

  3. Choose Job type → Plant & Sow.

  4. Select the Field(s) (from the map).

  5. Fill in the job details:

    • Crop category and Variety

    • Amount (e.g., planted area and/or seed quantity depending on your setup)

    • Seed/Plants details (select a seed/plant name, required to continue)

    • Optional: Seed treatments and other planting inputs (e.g., fertilizer applied at planting)

  6. Decide on Field distribution:

    • Full replant (plant the entire field), or

    • Partial (plant only part of the field — enter the portion/area as prompted)

  7. Assign a team member to complete the job (optional, if you use assignments).

  8. Select the date:

    • plan ahead (future date),

    • record past work, or

    • start today.

  9. Review the Summary and tap Save.

Important Note:

​All jobs need to be completed on the previous crop before you can complete a Plant & Sow job.
If you’re unable to finish a Plant & Sow job, check whether there are still open jobs linked to the previous crop in that field.

FAQ

I can’t complete the job. What should I check?
Make sure any jobs on the previous crop are completed, then try completing the Plant & Sow job again.

​Can I create the job now and finish the details later?
You can plan the job and return to update it later. If you’re blocked by required fields (like seed/plant name), fill those first, then save and complete the rest when ready.

​Can I plant only part of a field?
Yes. Under Field distribution, set the field occupancy (%) for what you’re planting. This lets you fully remove the previous crop from the field (100%) or remove only part of it, and then replant that portion with a new crop.

Does it have to be the same crop or variety?
No. Plant & Sow can be used for any crop and any variety. It’s designed for rotating crops, so you can replace the previous crop with a completely different crop and/or variety when starting a new crop cycle.
