Who is this for?
New Farmable admins or managers who are setting up a farm for the first time using the Web Portal.
When setting up your Farmable account, have your basic farm details ready, including:
field names and boundaries;
crop categories and varieties;
machinery and equipment names;
products used on the farm; and
team members' email addresses.
The Web Portal follows the same core setup as the Farmable mobile app. Any farm information you add is available across both platforms.
Quick Start Guide: the 5 core steps
1. Set up all your fields
Add each field with its name, boundary, crop category and variety. This connects your soil samples, fertilization plans, jobs, notes and harvest records to the correct field.
During account setup, Farmable will guide you through drawing your first field. You can add more fields later from the Fields tab or import existing fields under Settings → Field import.
2. Add your machinery and equipment
Go to Settings → Equipment and add the sprayers, fertilizer equipment, and other machinery used on your farm.
Adding equipment in advance makes it ready for future planning, calculations and record-keeping.
3. Add your causes
Go to Settings → Causes and add the reasons behind your crop treatments, such as pests, diseases, weeds or nutritional needs.
You can add causes from the standardized EPPO list or create your own causes. Keeping causes specific makes your records and reports easier to search and review.
4. Add your products
Go to Settings → Products and add the crop-protection products, fertilizers and other treatments used on your farm.
Use the product name from the label and add the relevant crop category, application rate, unit, and withholding period. You can also add ingredients and application requirements for more complete records.
5. Add other members to your farm
Go to Settings → Manage members → Invite and choose the role that matches the person's responsibilities:
Crew: can execute and track jobs, and view or add field notes.
Advisor: can recommend jobs, and view or add field notes.
Manager: has full admin access and can add or edit all data types.
Add the person's name and email address to send the invitation.
What to do next: create a fertilization plan
Once your fields and core farm information are in place, go to Tools → Fertilization plan.
Farmable uses the field's soil sample, yield estimate, historical data, and other records linked to that field to prepare an initial fertilization proposal. You remain in control and must approve the plan before proceeding.
Your first field's fertilization plan is free. Creating plans for additional fields requires Farmable Pro.

How long does the initial setup take?
Most farms can complete the basics in 10–30 minutes, depending on the number of fields and products that need to be added.
Do I need to set up everything at once?
No. Start with your account and fields, then add the remaining farm information as you go.
Can I import fields?
Yes. Go to Settings → Field import in the Web Portal.
Do I need the mobile app as well?
You can complete your farm setup on the Web Portal. The mobile app is useful for fieldwork, recording activities, and working with your team while away from your desk.
Does information sync between the Web Portal and the mobile app?
Yes. Both platforms use the same Farmable account and farm data.
What do I need to create a fertilization plan?
You need a soil sample and a yield estimate for the field.
