How do I add equipment and machinery to my farm?

Learn how to add sprayers, fertilizer rigs, and other machines in Farmable, either before you start jobs or on the fly during job logging.

TL;DR

  • Add equipment in Farm settings → Equipment → Add New, or on the fly during a job.

  • Choose Sprayer / Fertilizer / Other, then add name, registration, inspection date, ownership, and tank size/rate.

  • Preloading your list makes job creation smoother.
When it comes to managing equipment and machinery in Farmable, you have two flexible options:

You can either add all your equipment before getting started with jobs, or add them on the go as you work in the field.
While both methods work, we recommend setting everything up in advance for the smoothest experience.

Step-by-step: How to Add Equipment Before You Start Doing Jobs

  1. Open the Farmable App
Log in to your Farmable app and go to the farm settings in the right-hand corner of the screen.

  2. Scroll down to the ‘Equipment’ Section
On the main menu, tap on “Equipment”.

  3. Tap ‘Add New'
Use the 'Add New' button in the right-hand corner.

  4. Choose the type of equipment
    Sprayer, Fertilizer or Other.

  5. Fill in details such as:

    • Equipment name (e.g., John Deere Sprayer)

    • Registration number

    • Date of last inspection

    • Own/Borrowed equipment

    • Tank size and Application rate

  6. Save Your Equipment
Once filled out, tap Save. Your equipment is now available for selection during job creation.

  7. Repeat for All Your Equipment
Add as many machines as needed so they’re ready before fieldwork begins.

    FAQs

Can I add equipment while I’m creating a job?
Yes. In the Equipment step, tap + New Equipment, fill in details, and continue, the machine is saved and linked to the job.

    Which equipment types are supported?
Sprayer, Fertilizer, and Other. Pick the closest match; add specifics (capacity, width, notes) in the details.

Do I need to enter every field (registration, inspection date, etc.)?
Only the basics are required. The rest are recommended for better traceability and audits.

    Can I edit equipment later?
Yes, open the item from Equipment to update name, ownership, inspection date, tank size/rate, or notes.

Will removing equipment delete historic jobs?
No. Past jobs remain linked to their original records.

What about small tools or attachments?
Add items that affect planning, rates, or traceability (e.g., sprayer, fertilizer rig). Keep lists practical.

Can I assign jobs to a specific machine?
Yes, once equipment exists, you can select it in the job flow so records show which machine was used.

We borrow equipment occasionally. How should we record that?
Create an entry and mark Own/Borrowed accordingly. You can update or remove it later without affecting historical jobs.
